BIO

Angela L. Chostner,
Meditative painter & poet

Angela is a meditative artist who transforms everyday spaces to places of peace through paintings that flow with loving kindness, gratitude and other universal principles. Collectors resonate with  the  vibrant color, healing nature and deep meaning  found in her work.

Creative Process
Angela's paintings began as private expressions to find herself during the challenges of motherhood. One of the first paintings was Unity, created as a tribute to her family. Her paintings are visual expressions of the energy of virtues, an exploration of the human soul. Each work is infused with meditation and prayer, and slowly reveals the color of gratitude, the stillness of trust, the shape of forgiveness. Each painting has its own rhythm, and evolves along with Angela’s understanding of the universal principles she chooses to explore. Eventually, she transforms the musings and prayers that flowed through her during the creative process into poems that accompany each piece. A commonly heard response to Angela’s work is “it makes me feel at peace.”

Early Life

Angela  grew up in Ohio as a book-loving, tree-climbing artist and poet. Her Great Aunt Mary, an Ursuline nun, gave Angela her first poetry book, taught her how to say "Thank you" in Latin and always encouraged her.  Angela received her BFA from the Art Academy of Cincinnati and worked  many years as graphic designer, illustrator and art teacher. Today, Angela resides in St. Louis with two teenage children, a husband who loves to sail, a black lab and a studio cat.

More Than Art

Angela’s original paintings are in private and public collections across the U.S. and she exhibits her work through the midwest. Her paintings are known for their meditative qualities and how they bring a sense of sacred space to the places they inhabit, be it a wellness center, retreat or a yoga festival.  It is her intention that those who receive her paintings find solace, healing and affirmation.

For the past four years, Angela’s paintings and poetry have been featured in an international calendar devoted to spiritual art.  She has written three books of poetry and is a contributing author to the 2023 book, “Shine Your Soul Light.”   Her poetry has been read at weddings, poetry slams, meditation circles and sound baths. She creates projects that promote unity and community and delights in finding new ways to collaborate with kindred spirits.
